Autosport Designs, Inc. is proud to announce
that it has been appointed the sole United States distributor for the
continuation series of the car that started it all, the all Aluminum AC Ace
Classic, the quintessential ‘60’s roadster. The AC Ace Classic is a newly
manufactured descendent of the original Ace, as it is a continuation of the
original with designated serial numbers from the 1960’s.
In an age of mass production, the AC Ace Classic will return you to the days
of hand manufacturing in the bespoke British tradition when automobiles were
built by skilled artisans. The Classic is hand made in aluminum, beaten into
shape using the original AC bucks, then trimmed in hand-stitched leather and has
been mechanically updated where applicable.
It’s race-bred chassis was designed by John Tojero, a well-known designer and
racer from the 1950’s and 60’s. Like the original, the Classic features a
straight six-cylinder engine feed by twin S.U. carburetors with power being
transferred to the driven wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox. The Ace
Classic has had its braking upgraded to four-wheel disc brakes. As good as it
goes, so will it stop!
The car, when introduced in 1954, was almost unique among sports cars of the
era in that it had all independent suspension giving it outstanding handling
qualities as well as tenacious adhesion on bumpy and slippery roads. It set the
standard for handling for sports cars of this period.
This hand-made automobile offers the same tradition, fun and more
importantly, exclusivity. When was the last time you purchased a 1960’s
automobiles with exclusivity and a full one-year warranty??
The first AC Ace Classic will be delivered to Autosport Designs in
September-October for viewing and use as a demonstrator. Several more are
currently in the build process, so please call us with any questions you may
have and have one built for yourself.
