  ALFA ROMEOS FOR SALE

1963 ALFA ROMEO TZ1 ZAGATO COUPE
Click for photos

--Original Bottiglia Verde (Original Le Mans race livery), Restored, Exceptional race history, Current FIA Inspection-Paper and Confirmation of History.

This Alfa TZ1, Serial # 0003, Engine # 0002 comes with race photos and documentation from the 1964 race season having raced at Le Mans, Nurburgring 1000 Km, Tour de France, Cevennes and The Tour de Corse.

After the 1964 season, this TZ1 as with many race cars was put aside, remaining in Italy for the next 35 years. It was subsequently discovered in 2002 in pieces having being completely disassembled. Many original of its parts were with the car and as with its original engine, soon found and reunited with it. Inspected by an FIA representative in Europe several years ago for authentication, it has recently been re-inspected while completely apart for recent restoration by well-known Alfa TZ1 consultant and expert Marnix Dillenius to confirm part by part its originality. This recent inspection report is available for viewing and should substantiate part by part the originality of this TZ1 as well as note several items not original having been prepared for current vintage racing.

This TZ1 has recently been stripped and completely restored to original Le Mans livery with no expense spared. It is currently fitted with a fresh race motor (the original engine # 0002 in crate, included with car) with only dyno time to run in. The gearbox and clutch are perfect, the suspension has been completely refurbished as has the braking system. It has two exhaust systems, side mount for unmuffled events as well and rear exiting for muffled events. All work has been performed-carried out by Autosport Designs, Inc.

With exceptional early race history-provenance, recently restored, serviced, sorted and tested, this TZ1 is turn-key ready and eligible for some of the finest vintage automobile events on the calendar worldwide, race or touring.

--Royal Cherry with Black leather interior and Black carpeting, 82,000 miles from new, Automatic transmission.

The DBS was obviously designed to accept the V8 engine, but it wasn't until Spring 1970 that the Tadek Marek designed powerful V8 engine was available for fitment. External differences from the six cylinder model is a larger front air dam as well as alloy wheels, the wire wheels could never handle the mighty torque of the engine.

The 5340cc V8 engine fitted with Bosch mechanical fuel injection was powerful enough to propel the car to 160mph with a 0 to 60mph time of 5.9 seconds. At the time this was one of the fastest production cars in the world.

Sold by Autosport Designs, Inc. to its previous owner in 2001, this DBSV8 has enjoyed an AMOC members Northern California ownership and good company in the garage alongside the previous owner Vanquish until recently being traded back to Autosport. It is fresh from an exterior-cosmetic restoration.

--Goodwood Green with Black leather interior piped dark Green with Black carpeting edged dark Green, approximately 10,000 miles since complete and documented restoration by Aston Martin Works Service. Six Series V cars, this being one of them, were delivered with the GT engine installed, the resulting DB4 Vantage GT model being both rarer and more expensive than the DB4 GT itself.

This example has benefited by the following factory updates during the restoration. The front suspension features uprated shock absorbers and springs, anti-roll bar and a lowered roll center, at the rear Koni telescopic dampers replace the original levers. The fuel tank has been foam injected (to comply with racing regulations) and a removable four-point roll cage installed. When the roll cage is removed the mounting holes are covered by special leather flaps. Additional sensible upgrades included a heated rear window, negative-earth electrics, air conditioning and a new tool kit and jack. The engine was rebuilt in its entirety to 4.2 liters unleaded specification, using modern lightweight pistons and suitably stronger con-rods. An accompanying dynamometer test report reveals a maximum power output in excess of the magic 300bhp of 304bhp at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 299 lb/ft at 5,500 rpm. The radiator and oil cooler were sent away for specialist overhaul, and the four-speed David Brown gearbox and 3.31:1-ratio PowrLok diffrential rebuilt.

1955 ASTON MARTIN DBR2 RECREATION
Click for photos

--DBR Sage Green, 700 miles since manufacture, All-Aluminum and built to exacting specifications.

The Aston Martin DBR2 was the larger-engined version of the DBR1, one of the most beautiful sports-racing car of all time. The DBR1 not only won the World Sportscar Championship in 1959 but also the prestigious Le Mans 24-Hour Race (driven by Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori) that same year. Though five DBR1’s were constructed, there only two DBR2’s. Recently one of the two original DBR2’s has reportedly sold for $11 million dollars.

This DBR2 recreation has been constructed using an all-aluminum body built over two years by ex-Newport Pagnell Aston Martin panel beaters and painted in one of the colors used by the factory race team during the 1950s. It has a fully rebuilt Aston Martin six-cylinder engine to 4.2 liter DB4 GT specification, including a genuine new Aston Martin twin-plug cylinder head and twin distributors with engineered drives and casings matching those of the original DBR2, even the cam covers have original 'AM' symbols cast into the front. Only six pairs of these covers were made in 1957, two of which were used on the original two DBR2’s and the others on pre-production DB4s. The engine has only run in mileage and runs on unleaded fuel.

This DBR is fitted with a genuine David Brown 4-speed DB4 GT gearbox and has a full stainless-steel exhaust system fabricated to match the original DBR2 system. Made using factory drawings, the special radiator incorporates combined water and oil cooling sections and is fitted with a filler cap to the original design. The fuel cap, boot and bonnet catches have been made from solid castings. The wheels are new 16" chromed wire wheels with original Borrani spinners as well as genuine Dunlop racing tires as used in the 1950’s.

The instruments are genuine full-faced Smiths as used in the original DBR2’s. Although no speedometer was fitted to an original, this DBR is fitted with a discreet under dash digital speedo that will also measure mileage. The dashboard has been coated with the 'Cracked Green' reaction paint originally used on these cars, while the seats and rear cockpit panel are trimmed with the original type of fabric as originally used by Aston Martin at that time. The steering wheel boss has been machined from a solid billet of aluminum (the same as the originals) and has a removable center section featuring a genuine 'David Brown' enamel badge from the 1950s. The steering wheel itself is made from aircraft quality aluminum and the wooden rim is to the original design. Included is a new tonneau cover that unzips into two sections allowing one to drive with the passenger side still covered.

This is an exceptional and well crafted DBR2 Recreation with many rare and desirable features. It is sorted, serviced and in ready to use condition. It is offered not only at a fraction of the cost of an original, but also a fraction of its original cost to build. It is simply put, an awesome, awesome Aston. This DBR will not only show its prowess on the race circuit, but it’s also registered for the road and as happy on the street or for vintage rally-tours.

1985 FERRARI 288 GTO
Click for photos

--Rosso Corsa with Black leather interior and Black carpeting, 36k original kilometers, 5-speed, Factory air conditioning and power windows.

GTO. The three letters that adorn the worlds most desirable Ferrari. 1962's 250 was so incredibly beautiful and crushingly effective that any subsequent Ferrari inheriting this tag would have an awful lot to live up to. Second generation GTO's were born during the early 1980’s when many leading motor manufacturers thought FISA’s Group B regulations would evolve into the definitive platform for showcasing their most technologically advanced machinery.

Engine capacity was 2855cc thanks to a bore and stroke of 80mm x 71mm, a phenomenal 400bhp being developed at 7000rpm. Compression was set at 7.6:1, the twin IHI turbochargers at 0.8 bar while Behr intercoolers cooled the charge air. Weber-Marelli IAW electronic fuel injection and ignition was derived from experience gained in Grand Prix racing. Performance figures were extremely impressive with zero to sixty coming up in just 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 189mph possible. The Ferrari's 288 GTO arrived as the fastest production car in the world on it's 1984 launch. GTO's were only available in Rosso Corsa and left hand drive. The interior featured a suede covered anti-glare dash, Veglia instruments, a three-spoked leather rimmed Momo steering wheel and seats of similar design to the Daytona. Restrained and stylish but never overly luxurious, additional options available included air-conditioning, electric windows and a stereo cassette player as well as full leather trim.

Unveiled at the Geneva Salon in March 1984, the GTO was an overnight sensation. Collectors were gagging to place a deposit for this the newest, most desirable car in the world. Ferrari had originally planned to produce just the mandatory 200 units for homologation, however, demand was so strong that 272 examples were eventually completed by the time production was discontinued in early 1986.

This 288 GTO has been lovingly owned and maintained when and where needed to keep in superb overall condition throughout.

1951 FORD F1 PICK UP
Click for photos

--Sheridan Blue with Grey and Blue vinyl interior, 500 miles since complete, thorough, two year restoration to exacting standards, 239 CID Flathead V8 engine, 3-speed column shift manual gearbox.

Introduced in 1948, Ford’s F-Series was the replacement for the car-based pickups built before WWII. The F-Series became the standard in pickups and had a widespread appeal. Everyone from farmers to hot-rodders developed an affinity for the charming Ford trucks and they became so popular that each of Ford’s 16 assembly lines produced the model in order to meet demand. While the styling remained relatively unchanged over the four-year production run, in 1951, the front of the truck was redesigned. These examples, with their classic, aero-inspired grille and improved interior layout, are the most sought-after by collectors.

This handsome 1951 Ford F1 led a charmed life in the dry, forgiving climate of Tucson, Arizona, before moving north to the White Mountains region. Almost 50 years after it was first sold, this flathead Pickup was discovered by a retired machinist who saw the potential for a show-winner in this iconic truck.

Over the next five years, a painstaking restoration was undertaken that required the truck to be completely disassembled and saw every part either restored or replaced. Missing parts were located during an exhaustive, two-year countrywide search and every attempt was made to restore the car to factory specifications with only a few thoughtful upgrades. The grille bullets have been chromed to bring out their beautiful design and the bed features solid oak that has been sanded and varnished to a rich finish. The complete restoration is fully documented.

This F1 has been a proven winner and has received a number of awards including first place, Best of Class, Best Truck, Best Ford and even Best of Show at a variety of gatherings.

It is a stunning presentation and there is no doubt that this F1 Pickup is one of the finest examples in the country.

--Solar Yellow with Black leather interior, 6-speed manual gearbox, New-Demonstrator Mileage.

For 2010 the front end design has been restyled to include a larger, more angular air intake to help funnel more air through the radiator to improve the efficiency of the engine. Ahead of the front wheels, two new-additional intakes feed airflow to the twin oil coolers. For 2010, the rear wing has been uprated to replicate the Exige GT3 road car concept shown at the 2007 Geneva Motorshow, thus the new rear wing is 7.1” wider, mounted 1.8 inches higher and is 2.4” further back. The new rear wing is mounted to the rear body shell via end plates which not only increases the stiffness of the whole body structure but also ensure that as much of the airflow as possible passes over the rear wing. This careful airflow management increases stability, reduces drag and maintains impressive downforce.

1954 PLYMOUTH BELMONT CONCEPT SHOW CAR
Click for photos

-- The Belmont was created and designed by the famed Virgil Exner of Chrysler and Studebaker notoriety. The body was built to special order for Chrysler Corporation by Briggs Manufacturing. This exercise incorporated many features unique to Plymouth at the time. The sleek Belmont Concept Car rode on a Dodge Chassis and was powered by a 241 cubic inch motor delivering 150 Horse Power. The Belmont was the first Plymouth ever built with a V8 engine. Further, this experimental car was the first ever built with a lightweight fiberglass body. It has an overall length of 192 inches and a height of just 32 inches at the door top. The motor was mated to a Plymouth Hy-Drive three speed semi-automatic transmission.

Other unique design features include as a full set of racing instruments as well as radio controls built into the center armrest. The car was shown at the New York Auto Show in 1954 as well as other significant shows and events around the world in the period. It was also the co-star of a couple of feature films including Bundle of Joy with Eddie Fischer and Mister Cory with Tony Curtis. After completing the show circuit it was owned for many years by Virgil Exner himself, this itself this is quite unusual since most Concept Cars were destroyed by their respective factory.

There are few cars offered in the market today that represent an opportunity to own a piece of Automotive History such as this. Concept and Motorama Automobiles from the mid fifties are based on factory presentations of what the future held for motoring. These ideas were the penultimate when the “Dream Car” became a functioning, driving and well toured vehicle.

Exceptionally restored, The Belmont has been shown at some of the finest and most prestigious concours in the United States and has won many, many trophies over the years. Today, still in absolutely exceptional condition throughout, it is offered for the first time in many, many years.

Click for photos

--Marine Metallic Blue with Cashmere leather interior piped Blue and Tan carpeting, 42,000 miles, 4-speed manual.

In 1987, Porsche debuted a new slantnose body that clearly resembled the 935 racecar and the rare flachtbau, or flatnose-modified bodies of Porsche engineer Rolf Sprenger. Dubbed the 930S, the new model was essentially a turbocharged premium upgrade from the base 911, one that cost an astounding $23,244 extra that included retractable headlights and an assortment of functional vents that aided in engine and brake cooling, the 930S slantnose offered a sleek profile that became an icon of late 1980s styling.

This sleek 930S is fully optioned featuring limited slip differential, air conditioning, sunroof, leather upholstery and heated seats with rare matching blue trim. The car was originally delivered to New York but was later exported to Paris where it remained for 12 years until its current owner, only the third in the life of the car, purchased it following its return to the US.

Recently, Pacific Sports Car of Manhattan Beach, California, performed a major servicing costing in excess of $24,000, the work included resealing the cylinder heads, resurfacing the flywheel and replacing the oil lines, clutch assembly, new fuel distributor, synchros and brake pads. This pristine Slantnose Porsche has been continuously garaged over its lifetime and includes comprehensive documentation of its recent service as well as a certificate of authenticity from Porsche North America. A requisite for any Porsche collector, this 930S is a pristine example of the road-going version of the famous 935 racecar and represents the height of the turbocharged Porsche models of the 1980s.

An “ST” must be manufactured during 1970-1972, it could have been based upon either a 911T, E or S (this example starting from the factory as an “S”) before factory approved transformation from road car to race car began. An “ST” is a very rare car with fewer than 20 examples receiving the full factory racing kit.

Chassis number 911 030 0043 is one such example. During the 1972 IMSA season, Brumos ran two cars, an orange (ex Slazburg rally car) and a Red #14 911S/ST which gave the championship to Brumos; for years these two cars histories was confused. now their history is crystal clear.

Porsche 911S #9110300043 was a Bahia Red 1970 911S; internal production #100-0291 delivered to Brumos in 1970; in 1971 prior to '72 race season the car was made into a 2.5 litre 911ST by Jack Atkinson Brumos race mechanic for A. Carduner (son of Brumos sponsor Garrard) to run along side of the Orange #59 ex rally car which was now a ST.

It received a factory 911 ST upgrade kit and 043 was raced by Carduner as #14 at VIR, Lime Rock, Mid Ohio, Watkins Glen and Bryar.

During '72 with Hurley Haywood driving it at Lime Rock and Daytona, Carduner's co-drivers were Theodoracopoulos (woooow worse than mine!) and Bienverue.

In '73 it raced at Daytona with Carduner race #58, retired with blown engine; then sold to Mexico, Inglasies Potter where it won the Mexican City Grand Prix.

Documentation includes IMSA race records with vin #'s Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, photos of the restoration by Gunnar Racing - Kevin Jeanette, original bill of sale by Peter Gregg; period race photos Daytona '72 and 73,VIR in '72.

This 911 ST is presently in superb restored condition, in the recent past it won the Greenwich Concour as the best competition car.

1961 PORSCHE 356B 1600 CARRERA GT

--Silver with Black interior and Grey German square-weave carpeting, Fully Restored, 4-speed manual, 4-Cam Carrera engine, Superb.

This extremely rare 356B 1600 Carrera GT, Chassis number 115388 is one of only 35 originally manufactured. It is factory complete with aluminum hood, doors, engine cover, rare aluminum Speedster bucket seats as well as lightweight perspex for its side and rear windows.

Since introducing the 356 A in late 1955, Porsche had offered a complex four-cam Carrera alongside the more straightforward pushrod production cars with their single camshafts. Carrera's were initially built for both road and track use. With the debut of the T5-bodied 356 B in September 1959 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Porsche decided to delete the road-going version and focus solely on producing a small batch of competition spec 1600 GT's. The 356B 1600 Carrera GT’s came with the most powerful Carrera engine to date. The new 135bhp Type 692/3A motor became the most powerful engine available and, although closely derived from the Type 692/3, this revised motor, running the same 9.8:1 compression as before, boasted two huge Solex 44 PII-4 carburetors. Further differentiation between the two engines came from enlarged main bearing journals, thicker rod journals and six small flywheels to avoid the torsion vibration that regularly occurred at 7000rpm (and dampen the harmonic vibration out of the valve train). This was Porsche's hottest engine to date and made the 356B Carrera GT the fastest 356 (other than the Abarth-built Carrera's). It had a top speed approaching 140mph and zero to sixty time of around seven seconds. This made the 1600 Carrera GT a serious player in small capacity GT racing all over the world.

The T-5-bodied 356 B 1600 Carrera GT featured lightweight bumpers lacking overriders, aluminum panels for the front lid, doors and engine cover. The interior featured aluminum bucket seats, leather window retaining straps and lightweight plastic for the side and rear windows.

Just 35 of these 356B 1600 Carrera GT’s were produced making it very rare indeed.
