  ALFA ROMEOS FOR SALE

1967 ALFA ROMEO DUETTO SPIDER
Click for photos

--Rosso Dino with Black interior, Black carpeting and Black convertible top, Full restored, 1,600cc engine and 5-speed manual gearbox.

This Duetto was restored several years ago and has since been part of a well-known collection of Italian cars here on the East Coast. It is immaculate, solid and well serviced throughout. All mechanicals, cosmetics and chassis are superb.

Produced between 1966-1967 the Alfa Romeo Duetto was powered by a twin-cam four cylinder of 1570cc, it offered great performance and an attractive "Spider" body. The body featured bumpers that were set into the front and rear wings as well as a front grille set below the front bumper. In 1967 when a Duetto appeared in the movie "The Graduate", Alfa Romeos started to become widely recognized. The combination of Alfa Romeo's responsive and powerful 1,600-cc DOHC light alloy engine with twin carburetors, disc brakes, a smooth and quick-shifting five-speed gearbox, the chassis' predictable handling, and the Duetto's 2,195-pound dry weight makes it one of the period's most rewarding sports cars.

Ready for fun, here it is…

  AMERICAN BANTAMS FOR SALE

1941 AMERICAN BANTAM 65 SUPER
Click for photos

--Metallic Sand, Ivory coves with Red striping with Dark and Light Tan two tone interior, 3- speed manual.

History: In 1929, Britain’s Sir Herbert Austin visited New York bringing with him four of his popular Austin Seven cars. He spoke with a number of businesspeople, hoping to interest some of them in a franchise to build the little Austins. Only after returning home did he hear from some bankers in western Pennsylvania who were eager to industrialize their city, thus the American Austin Car Company was established at Butler shortly thereafter.

The American directors of the new firm felt the English Austin needed some flashier lines, and looked to Detroit for inspiration. Hayes Body Company submitted proposals by Alexis de Sakhnoffsky, a Russian count who had become their art director. Spiffy little coupes and roadsters were placed into production and advertised in a brochure illustrated by Esquire artist Lawrence Fellows. Borrowing the “sweep panel” associated with Duesenberg, Sakhnoffsky made the cars look jaunty and cute. The powerplant came directly from British Austin Seven motor.

Only 8,558 cars were delivered by the end of 1930, sales in 1931 were worse and the company went into receivership. Roy Evans, the charismatic Florida dealer, took charge, selling most of the accumulated inventory. Evans reorganized the company into the American Bantam Car Company and had Sakhnoffsky update the styling. The new Bantam car entered production late in mid-1937. In addition to the familiar roadster and coupe, models included a pickup, station wagon and panel delivery trucks. Speedster and Riviera models had seating for four, later cars relocated the headlamps out to the fenders. Prices ranged from $399 to $565 in 1939, but customers still weren't buying. Only about 6,000 Bantams were built through 1941.

This Bantam has enjoyed long time collector ownership and shows few signs of age. It is a welcomed addition to any automobile collection or wonderful around town fun as evidenced by my recent drive to and from home, a crowd pleaser wherever it is seen.

SOLD 1985 FERRARI 288 GTO
Click for photos

--Rosso Corsa with Black leather interior and Black carpeting, 36k original kilometers, 5-speed, Factory air conditioning and power windows.

GTO. The three letters that adorn the worlds most desirable Ferrari. 1962's 250 was so incredibly beautiful and crushingly effective that any subsequent Ferrari inheriting this tag would have an awful lot to live up to. Second generation GTO's were born during the early 1980’s when many leading motor manufacturers thought FISA’s Group B regulations would evolve into the definitive platform for showcasing their most technologically advanced machinery.

Engine capacity was 2855cc thanks to a bore and stroke of 80mm x 71mm, a phenomenal 400bhp being developed at 7000rpm. Compression was set at 7.6:1, the twin IHI turbochargers at 0.8 bar while Behr intercoolers cooled the charge air. Weber-Marelli IAW electronic fuel injection and ignition was derived from experience gained in Grand Prix racing. Performance figures were extremely impressive with zero to sixty coming up in just 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 189mph possible. The Ferrari's 288 GTO arrived as the fastest production car in the world on it's 1984 launch. GTO's were only available in Rosso Corsa and left hand drive. The interior featured a suede covered anti-glare dash, Veglia instruments, a three-spoked leather rimmed Momo steering wheel and seats of similar design to the Daytona. Restrained and stylish but never overly luxurious, additional options available included air-conditioning, electric windows and a stereo cassette player as well as full leather trim.

Unveiled at the Geneva Salon in March 1984, the GTO was an overnight sensation. Collectors were gagging to place a deposit for this the newest, most desirable car in the world. Ferrari had originally planned to produce just the mandatory 200 units for homologation, however, demand was so strong that 272 examples were eventually completed by the time production was discontinued in early 1986.

This 288 GTO has been lovingly owned and maintained when and where needed to keep in superb overall condition throughout.

SOLD 1964 FERRARI 250 GT BERLINETTA LUSSO
Click for photos

--Rosso Corsa with Black leather interior and Black carpeting, Older restoration still in exceptional condition, 4-speed manual transmission.

Introduced in the fall of 1962, the 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso was Ferrari’s latest intermediate model that would bridge the gap between competition racers and luxuriously appointed 2+2 Coupe’s. It combined exceptional performance and sultry looks and today the GTL is widely regarded as one of Pininfarina's greatest ever designs. The Lusso's Berlinetta coachwork made it one of the prettiest series production Ferrari's ever built, light and aggressive but incredibly stylish. The interior combines all the components that defined exclusive GT motorcars from the early sixties, leather-covered dash, wood rimmed aluminium spoked Nardi steering wheel and plenty of luxurious leather and carpeting lending a genuine sense of refinement to the cockpit.

The Lusso's tubular steel Tipo 539 chassis was eminently comparable to the frame seen on Ferrari's awesome 250 GTO, it shares an identical wheelbase of 2400mm. The single overhead camshaft, 60° V12 used in the Lusso was another descendent of Colombo's original unit, Lusso's representing the pinnacle of development for the legendary 250 unit. Designated Tipo 168, the engine was little more than a mildly de-tuned version of the 250 GTO. Power output was 250bhp at 7500 rpm good for 0-60 time of under seven seconds with a top speed of 150 mph.

Continuing in production with more or less the same specification until late 1964, only some 350 examples have been manufactured in total.

This 250 GT Lusso has recently been fully serviced has original books and tools, and drives exactly as one should.

Click for photos

--Dark Grey with Black Interior, Grey German square weave carpets and Black cloth top and top boot, Older restoration, 4-speed manual transmission, 2.0 liter Plain Bearing Engine.

By late 1961, a road-going 356 with Porsche's exotic four-camshaft engine had been missing from showrooms for two years. In September 1961, a revised T-6-based Carrera was introduced for the 1962 model year, the new model was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1961. The new 4-cam Carrera engine now being even more potent with new 2.0 liter displacement making this the fastest incarnation of the 356 yet produced. Within six months of its initial launch, the Carrera 2 also became equipped with ATE disc brakes.

Carrera 2 road cars used the Type 587/1 plain bearing motor with a compression of 9.2:1 with two twin choke Solex 40 PII-4 carburettors, this produced 130bhp at 6200rpm and was enough for a top speed of around 130mph and a 0-60 time of just over eight seconds. Using a more-or-less standard T-6 shell, the new two-litre road car could be identified by its brass Carrera 2 scripting located on the engine lid and was available in either Coupe or Cabriolet body styles.

This 356 B Carrera 2 Cabriolet is a matching numbers example that has been restored many years ago but remains in excellent condition both cosmetically and structurally. It has had two owners from new and has convered only 81,000 Kilometers miles from new. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a 356 B Carrera 2 Cabriolet of which less than 35 examples have ever been manufactured.

--Met. Blue with Blue cloth Recaro sport seats and Beige carpeting, 28,000 Kilometers/17,000 Miles from new, 5-speed manual, Single Disc CD stereo/tuner with I-pod capability, One of the Best Available.

This R5 Turbo II (one of my personal cars) has been enthusiastically owned and cared for since new. Recently is has received a full service, been fitted with a Devil sport exhaust system and fitted with R5 Turbo Tour de Corse 7.5”x15” front & 9.5”x16” rear wheels.

History…………………Renault was a pioneer in the development of turbocharged engines in its Formula One racing cars, their 1.5-liter turbo engines reaching 1,200 hp. Renault wanted to put its turbo expertise to work in rally competition, the tiny R5 became the designated platform.

Putting a bunch of turbo horses to the ground through the front wheels didn't seem like a good recipe for a fast rally car, so Renault engineers removed the back seat and thus became the mid-engined R5 Turbo driving the rear wheels through a five-speed transaxle. Unfortunately, the manufacturer didn't officially import the little hot rod to America.

The R5's 1,397cc pushrod engine featured an aluminum head with hemi combustion chambers. The engine was good for 160 hp, optional 185-hp & 200-hp upgrade kits were available.

For high-speed assaults on twisty roads, the car may be without equal given its 40/60 weight distribution, race-spec suspension, rack-and-pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes.

The engine delivers little power at the low end, but output grows shockingly as the turbo boost needle swings clockwise with neck-snapping surge of acceleration, the R5 Turbo is like riding a lit bottle rocket. The turbo's plumbing is short and direct and reflects Renault's experience in F1, the engine compartment is clean and easy to navigate.

I searched for quite a while to find what I believe is one of the finest and low mileage original and well-maintained examples of this iconic street-rally car. This example must be considered on of the finest examples in existence.
