Press release from AC Cars January 8, 2005
AC Ace – a classic reborn

AC is pleased to announce that it has appointed Autosport Designs the sole United States Distributor for the AC Ace Classic, the reintroduction of the car that launched the legendary Cobra model – the AC Ace Classic.

The Engineers and technicians at AC’s English manufacturing operation are employing traditional craftsmanship, together with the original tooling, to faithfully reproduce this quintessential English sports car of the 50’s and 60’s, with it’s hand formed aluminium body, its 2.5 litre six cylinder engine, and its all independent suspension, the AC Ace Classic is light, fast, agile, simple and pretty. It was the car which Texan racer Carroll Shelby used as the basis for the original Cobra model.

“There is a growing demand for the original Ace, particularly in the USA and we are delighted to be working with Autosport Designs to re-introduce AC back to the United States”, says AC Cars Chairman Alan Lubinsky. “Enthusiasts recognize the purity of the original Ace and we have decided to re-create that sports car purity with a completely original car, hand made by artisans in the old English tradition. Later, we expect to make available limited numbers of the cars to collectors in the UK and Europe”.

The first model of the ‘new’ AC Ace Classic is expected to arrive in the United State during the first quarter of 2005.

The Ace Classic project is a further element in AC’s rebirth.
