Abbey Coachworks of Willesden produced the bodies for the 15/98 2/4 Seater Aston, the first of which was shown at the 1937 Earls Court Motor Show. Only 50 of these 15/98’s were produced in this configuration. The 15/98 was powered by a 1,949cc 4-cylinder engine producing 98bhp which allowed for a top speed over 85 mph.
This 15/98 2.0 Liter 2/4 Seater has been in its previous ownership since October of 1967 when it was purchased by Mr. Aston (no, that is not incorrect!) from dealer Fred Brown, Inc. Portsmouth, Ohio. Mr. Aston used his 15/98 for several years prior to parking it in dry storage in 1971.
Prior to Mr. Astons ownership, this 15/98 had an unbroken chain of UK owners. It is complete with original factory owners manual, factory build records, UK log book, complete history, provenance and service records from new!
Just recently, this Aston was purchased by Dennis Collins along with a Nash Coupe and Convertible also owned by Mr. Aston for the Discovery TV show Fast N Loud. Subsequently, the Aston has been purchased by Tom Papadopoulos – Autosport Designs, Inc., the purchase from long time owner Mr. Aston will appear in an upcoming episode of Fast N Loud.
The goal was to show how this 15/98 can be detailed and prepared with various specialty cleaning products and many hours of care and attention, thus bringing this 15/98’s condition back to life and true survivor status. It will remain in original condition, a perfect candidate for any preservation concour class throughout the automotive world.
Although the cosmetic and structural condition of this Aston are superb. It will require a bit of recommissioning and servicing prior to being used for touring-road used.
