It was the first time Autosport Designs, Inc. attended this exceptional event (reminiscent of The Quail-Monterey event). Tom Papadopoulos, contacted by Tom Smith, long time friend and Aston client and asked if he would be able to compile an array of Aston Martins for the event. Given some quick thought, it was decided to call upon Kathy and Randy Poliner who in their collection have several Autosport Designs, restored and maintained Astons, amongst other exceptional automobiles in their collection.
A quick call to Randy and he was in! The arrangements set and within an hours time we had some of the finest Astons in existence scheduled to attend the 2009 event. It was decided to bring their DB4 GT, DB6 Vantage Coupe, DB AR1 Roadster as well as their newly acquired DB5 Convertible x-King Hussein. This DB5 was whisked away from its previous owner in California and thanks to Horseless Carriage arrived at Autosport Designs for quick preparation given the time constraint. This preparation was nothing in comparison to the detailing Randy had performed on the other cars during a few of his therapeutic Saturdays in the garage! The DB5C was loaded yet again onto another truck for its voyage to Florida.
Also displayed was a V8 Volante restored by Autosport Designs, Inc. on its way to new owner Alfonso Valdes as well as Tom Smith’s wonderful V8 Volante also a product of Autosport Designs, past workmanship.
This was a truly magnificent event and highly recommended for all to attend in the upcoming years. Once again, thanks to John Barnes and his staff.
