Autosport Designs, Inc. was contacted when the original James Bond DB5 on loan from Eon Productions was delayed due to rough seas when being transported from the UK to New York for the New York Toy Fair. With the new upcoming James Bond film, the toy companies as well as Ford Motor Company were involved in promotion of the film with the loan of a Vanquish and the original James Bond DB5.
At the last minute it had become obvious the original car was not going to make it. I was contacted and asked to supply a look alike. Theo Grutmman was contacted and debriefed of the situation at hand. Theo came through, his car rushed from Shelter Island by flatbed to keep company with those Bond Girls!! Thanks Theo!!!!
