1972 De Tomaso

Pantera L

Red with Black leather interior, Black carpeting, 7,800 miles from new, 5.8 liter (351ci) Ford Cleveland V8, ZF 5-speed manual transmission, Highly original.

Alejandro De Tomaso founded his auto building firm, De Tomaso Automobili, in Modena, Italy in 1959. Like many race car builders, he hoped to emulate Ferrari and build road cars that would embody the qualities of his racing cars and be fast, excellent handling cars. De Tomasos hallmark was a well-designed sportscar featuring exotic styling on the outside, but always have an off-the-shelf production engine underneath. Today, Panteras are among the most bulletproof of exotic Italian cars on the road and, as a result, they are far cheaper to run and own than Ferraris, Maseratis and Lamborghinis due to De Tomaso and Fords choice of an off-the-shelf Mustang V8 engine, the 351-Cleveland.

This 1972 Pantera is an early L model sold new by Meyer Lincoln/Mercury of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. The early "L" models had a stitched dashboard with separate gauge pods as opposed to the later molded dash. The Pantera is largely original, cared for and enthusiast owned and cared for throughout its 7,800 original miles. It has benefited by a recent bare metal repaint as the only cosmetic restoration work performed. The body is excellent throughout. All brightwork is also in excellent original condition and the interior has been kept pristine condition showing no signs of wear.

This Pantera has always been mechanically serviced regardless of use to keep everything in excellent condition and working order throughout. All maintenance receipts are included in the history file.

Having covered only 7,800 miles from new, this Pantera is truly exceptional in every respect. It is complete with original MSO, window sticker, owner's manual and service/maintenance records. The Pantera is an Italian exotic with a heart of reliable American muscle.
