Introduced in 1990, the Porsche 964 Turbo model was the successor to the 930. Porsche released the 964 Turbo 3.6 in January of 1993 featuring a turbocharged version of the 3.6 liter M64 engine. The 3.6 liter powered Turbo was produced only for model years 1993 and 1994. With fewer than 1,500 of them produced in total, the 964 Turbo 3.6 is one of the rarest and most sought after Porsches produced since the 959.
This 3.6 Turbo was originally delivered in Japan and sold through Porsche distributor Mitsuwa for direct sale to the Bridgestone Corporation. It was sent directly to Bridgestones Kuruke, Fukuoka facility and registered through the company. Bridgestone used the 3.6 Turbo for promotional and marketing material through the 1990s. It was sold by Bridgestone to a private collection in 2000. The 3.6 would remain in Japan until its recent importation to the United States.
