1989 marked the final year of the G-Series 911s and were the last of the original Porsche 911 design before the 964 bodies launched in 1990. The Carrera 3.2 engine is admired as the pinnacle development of the original 911 that first appeared in 1964. As a final send-off for this generation, Porsche created the Speedster as a nod to the original 356 speedsters of the 1950s. It also coincided as a 25th anniversary for the 911.
