The XK-120 was available in an XK-120 SE version with high lift cams, special crankshaft damper, lightened flywheel, stiffer torsion bars & rear springs, dual exhaust system - this all made for an even more sporting version of the iconic post-war speedster which produced 180hp in SE trim. Jaguar ceased production of the XK-120 in the summer of 1954 so this car is one of the last produced.
This is an authentic and extremely original example of the coveted SE model in original LHD, matching numbers and a USA specification example.
Everything on this XK-120 is original except the paint, which was resprayed about 60 years ago. The seats, upholstery and carpet are completely original and show wear commensurate with its age. All exterior brightwork is well preserved throughout. The engine bay is tidy and appears to have a new wiring harness. A service history-invoice folder from the current owner is included and will attest to the mechanical upkeep. The convertible top frame is in place, but the convertible top is missing and will need replacement for full weather protection. The horn button is absent from the steering wheel but a new replacement is included with the sale. This XK-120 comes complete with its original tools, side curtains, tonneau cover as well as its factory spare tire.
Records indicate the 120 being purchased by its current owner in 2016 from a gentleman in Detroit. This gentleman purchased the car in 1960 (probably its second owner) and used it sparingly over the years.
One of the most iconic sports cars of the 1950's, this XK is in, extremely original condition throughout, solid without rust and mechanically sound. As stated by its current owner, it runs and drives as it should and is “shabby chic” in its original condition and ready to use in its current preserved form.
