The RUF automobile company is one of the foremost tuners of Porsche products in the world, they have even gained manufacturer status and today built their own range of automobiles. Ok, so we are not offering a “Yellowbird” here, but, only 29 RUF Yellowbirds were manufactured whereas and from our research and from what we have been told, only approximately 18 W09 tubbed RUF normally aspirated 911 Carrera 3.4's have been manufactured in total by RUF. Therefore, quite rare indeed.
These RUF 911's have always been built to customer specifications. RUF have always taken what Porsche have originally manufactured and gone one step further and this, with Porsche's blessing quite the accolade.
Option from RUF include: 3.4 liter normally aspirated engine Motronic fuel injection, RUF CTR front spoiler with integrated oil cooler, RUF CTR rear bumper with vents and dual outlet exhaust opening, RUF dual outlet sport exhaust, RUF instrumentation, RUF 360mm sport steering wheel, RUF limited slip differential, RUF short shifter, RUF sport suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers and a RUF front shock tower brace.
Standard Porsche equipment include: “Carrera” tail, European headlights, 88-liter fuel tank and air conditioning.
This RUF 3.4's history started its beginning being imported to Canada where it remained until the early 2010s when it was imported to Texas, USA. At this time, 2015-2016, this RUF was sent to RUF's German headquarters for a bare tube rebuild and total restoration to as new.
When completed at RUF in 2016, this RUF 3.4 was offered for sale. In early 2017, this RUF was purchased by a New York resident and re-imported to the USA. Circa, 2020, this RUF was traded to well-known California dealer Bruch Canepa. At this time it was one again offered for sale to the open market. Purchased from Canepa by a very good friend – collector of Autosport Designs, a resident of Chicago, Illinois, it was once again housed in an exceptionally collection.
Most recently, this Ruf 3.4 liter was traded to Autosport Designs towards another significant Porsche automobile sourced by us for his collection. Sadly, even the best collections must part with some of their favorites from time to time. This RUF 3.4 Carrera is now offered for sale in absolutely superb and ready to use condition.
As recent auction as well as private sales will attest, a RUF Porsche manufactured in extremely limited quantities and with W09 manufacturer serial number status is an extremely rare opportunity to purchase what will most surely be part of automotive history and certain to have pure investment potential.
