The Mercedes W113 type, nick-named “Pagoda” due to a distinctive and patented concave hardtop roofline. Many see as one of the most beautiful cars ever built. All 280 SL models were equipped with an inline 6-cylinder engine with mechanical fuel injection. The comparatively short and wide chassis, combined with an excellent suspension, powerful brakes and radial tires gave the 280 SL superb handling for its time.

This original US-specification 280 SL was originally owned by Mr. George Pew of Devon, PA. After long-term ownership, he then sold it in 2002 to Mr. Barry Bartlett of King of Prussia, PA. It has since been owned by its third owner in Westchester, NY since 2012. The 280 SL was well cared for in each of these ownerships inclusive of its large service history file. It has benefitted from comprehensive servicing during these long-term ownerships and used regularly throughout the Spring and Summer seasons here in the Northeast.

Cosmetically and mechanically refreshed, this 280SL is in excellent condition throughout. The engine was completely rebuilt in its recent ownership and has accumulated approximately 2,000 miles since. This is an excellent driving example, has always been cared for mechanically, has never sustained any accident damage and whose structure is superb. It even retains its original fenders with its fender pinches.

This 280SL represents a great value for a collector or enthusiast seeking an enjoyable and reliable vintage Mercedes Benz Roadster. It is complete with its original books, tools, spare wheel and servicing records.
