3.0 CSL

This BMW legendary racing-homologation special, the BMW 3.0 CSL was truly a racing car for the road. Specific features included a lightweight alloy bonnet and outer door skins, thin-gauge steel panels, lightweight interior and an up-rated 3-litre engine.

On the track, the 3.0 CSL won the 1973 European Touring Car Championship with Toine Hezemans, who also co-drove a 3.0 CSL with Dieter Quester to a class victory at Le Mans that year. After 1974, the CSL continued in the German Touring Car and the FIA Group 5, often highlighted by the airborne driving style of famed BMW works driver Hans-Joachim Stuck. The CSL was also highly successful in Americas IMSA GT Championship with Brian Redman, Ronnie Peterson and Sam Posey. This 3.0 CSL is in excellent condition throughout and has just received a major mechanical and brake service to bring it to its current exceptional standard.

This four-speed example retains the original lightweight bucket seats and remains in excellent original condition, free of accident damage, clearly benefiting from proper care and maintenance.

Collector owned and cared for, the BMW 3.0 CSLs with their brilliant racing heritage and sublime driving dynamics are some of the finest and best performing racing homologation specials available.
