1958 Devin

Special

--Red over Black interior, Black carpeting, 19,000 miles from new, 283ci Corvette V8, 4-Speed Manual Transmission, Completely restored, Extremely rare, Based on 1954 Austin Healey Chassis, One of the most original and best Devin's in the world.

Bill Devin founded the brand which operated from 1955 to 1964. Their claim to fame was producing high quality fiberglass bodied cars, automotive accessories, and complete automobiles. Devin bodies we're able to set themselves above from the competition by providing a higher quality finish by using fiberglass cloth rather than the coarser glass mat alternative used by other manufacturers of the era. This resulted in very smooth finishes with cleaner lines around edges of the vehicles. Devin's raced successfully in SCCA C-modified class competing against Ferrari's, Lister's, and Maserati's or the era.

This Devin Special is 1 of 27 body styles produced by Devin Enterprises. Rare period Devin add-ons include the Devin gauges, Monza gas fill up cap, Devin wood-rimmed steering wheel, Devin valve covers, and an extremely rare Devin 3x2 intake manifold for its Chevrolet V8 powerplant.

Power is derived from a 283ci Corvette V8 that has been modified with an Iskenderian “Isky” racing cam providing an ample power boost while maintaining drivability. Electric fans and a modern ignition system have been added to make ensure reliability. Extremely lightweight and powerful, these Devin's were a force to be reckoned with both on the street as well as race circuits, 0-60 times were achieved in under 5 seconds and this was in the 1950's!

One of the finest Devin Specials in the world, our Devin won the Super Rod Magazine Trophy for most technically developed fiberglass special vehicle at the 2010 Amelia Island Concours. Truly unique example is exceptional throughout and ready for immediate enjoyment on the road, track or concours lawn.
