This E-type Roadster is a matching numbers example. According to its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate it was delivered new to the U.S. market, sold new by Jaguar Cars New York to its first registered owner Mr. Frank Gordon of Miami, Florida on November 16th, 1964 as a 1965 model.
This E-type was discovered in a barn in Westfield, Massachusetts in the early 2000s. It was then given to Texas based Jaguar expert, Dan Mooneys Classic Jaguar, for a thorough nut-and-bolt restoration that also provided an upgraded level of performance while aiming for cosmetic authenticity.
The original matching-numbers engine was completely rebuilt, balanced and blueprinted. New high-performance camshafts, enlarged stainless steel valves, Venolia forged pistons, lightweight alloy flywheel, K&N filters and an aluminum radiator were fitted for improved performance. For better road holding and drivability, Classic Jaguar added a five-speed transmission, Wilwood racing brakes, Koni shocks, upgraded torsion bars and wider, polished Dayton wire wheels mounted with Pirelli P4000 tires. Although not significantly altered from its original configuration, this E-type boasts approximately 300 horsepower in its current form. Modern amenities include an iPod interface in the glove box which has been integrated with a correct vintage radio.
This two year restoration, completed in December 2009, has resulted in an outstanding cosmetic and mechanical E-type that must be considered one of the best of its kind, anywhere! Well over $200,000 has been spent on its restoration, all receipts as well as photographic documentation is included.
