1997 Land Rover

Defender 90

Ferrari Avorio (Off-White) with a Black interior, Black carpeting with Black removable soft top, 17,000 miles, Automatic transmission.

The last year of the Land Rover Defender 90 NAS in the U.S. is arguably the best vintage of this vehicle. The aluminum-bodied Defender was introduced in 1994 and after a hiatus for 1996, it was brought back in 1997 for a final run. During its run of three model years, fewer than 7,000 were brought into North America. All 1997 models had the upgraded and cleaner-burning 4.0L V-8, which yielded 182 horsepower and 233 lb-ft of torque, almost identical to the power output of the 3.9L it replaced. Also new to the Defender for 1997 was the electronically operated ZF four-speed automatic transmission; no manual was offered in its final model year.

This four-owner Defender 90 was purchased by well-known Defender 90 specialist Copley Motorcars only a few years ago. Shortly thereafter its new owner embarked on a complete bespoke cosmetic restoration, the condition of which is superb in every way. Originally painted in Metallic Green, it was chosen to repaint the Defender a more palatable Ferrari Avorio (Off White). The truck was completely stripped and done properly including the bed lined tub as well as re-assembly using stainless fasteners. During this time the suspension was serviced and detailed in black for a fresher and cleaner look. The D90 was fitted with Old Man EMU 1 Lifter kit with Bilstein suspension all around, new BFGs tires and wheels refinished in Black. The owner then attached Southdown skid plates, an engine breather snorkel (in case you decide it necessary to drive underwater!), additional fog lights and a remote search light. A rear step was added for better access to the newly installed 4 rear jump seats and coco mats were fabricated and fit to the interior. Lastly a more modern stereo/CD player was added as the final touch. Records show the original speedometer being faulty having been replaced at around 68,000 miles. The D90 currently has 17,000 miles on its new speedometer. Due to this D90s being cared for exceptionally in every way, it shows as if it has only 17,000 original miles.

This Defender 90 has been used sparingly and for Summer use in East Hampton since its completion and remains in excellent, well serviced condition throughout. The quality and condition of the both the interior and exterior will be appreciated by those seeking to own one of the best D90's available.

This Defender 90 is complete and ready for immediate use.
