DB 2/4 MK I Vantage Coupe

Moonbeam Grey with Red interior and Black carpets, 4-speed manual, original LHD Vantage, fully restored to fast road specification, comprehensive history, Mille Miglia eligible.

This DB 2/4 Vantage was constructed at the Aston Martin works in Feltham on 30th September 1953, finished in Moonbeam Grey with red leather interior and to LHD export specification. The engine was built to 3.0 liter ‘Vantage specification, denoted by its ‘VB6E engine number, the same engine it retains to this day. It was delivered on 20th November 1953 to its first owner, Monsieur Durot of Anvers, France, equipped with heavy duty shock absorbers and km/h speedometer.

It is understood the DB 2/4 remained in Europe until 2005 when it was sold to Mr. Schuebrien of West Linn, Oregon. Mr. Schuebrien commissioned an extensive restoration to fast road specification which included a full rebuild of the engine, full re-paint and re-trim of the interior. The original interior was removed from the car and carefully stored and bucket seats trimmed in red hounds tooth cloth were fitted in keeping with the fast road specification of the car.

In 2007, the car was acquired by Mr. Luca Maciucescu, a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico, who proceeded to campaign the DB2/4 at vintage motorsports events including the 2008 Lime Rock Vintage Festival, the 2008 Coronado Speed festival and the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion 2008-2010.

The current owner, a noted East Coast collector, acquired it in 2011 and immediately entrusted the car to AZ Collector Cars for further preparation in readiness for his use in touring events, focusing on reliability, safety and performance. A new set of triple Weber carburetors were fitted with the correct manifold, linkages and new fuel lines and the carbs were balanced and tuned to ensure smoothness and excellent power delivery. The shock absorbers were fully rebuilt and the steering box was also dismantled and rebuilt. New wheels and tires were fitted as well as an electronic ignition system.

In superb condition throughout, the DB 2/4 MK I Vantage is eligible for the majority of the finest vintage motoring events including Mille Miglia, California Mille, Colorado Grand, Le Mans Classic and Goodwood. This rare Vantage specification DB 2/4 MK I is extremely well prepared and one of the finest examples we have encountered in recent times. It is offered with a comprehensive history file, copies of the original build sheets and a selection of original parts.

We can attest to this DB 2/4 Vantage being exceptional in every way having just used it on this years Colorado Grand road rallyandfor 1000 superb carefree miles and without any issues what so ever!
