1972 Ferrari

246 GT

Marrone Dino Metallizzato with Beige Leather interior and Beige carpeting, 22,000 ORIGINAL MILES, 5-speed gearbox, 2.4 Liter V6, Documented by Massini, Owners manual, Instruction booklet and Factory wheel chock.

Clothed in stunning Pininfarina-designed coachwork, built by Scaglietti, the Dino first debuted as a design concept, known as the 206 S Speciale at The Geneva Motor Show in March, 1965. Several years later, it entered series production with the 206-specification, two-liter engine. After a short run of 150 cars, the 206 GT was updated in 1969 with a larger 2.4-liter motor, which was a displacement that remained unchanged until the Dinos discontinuation in 1974, ending with the equally spectacular 246 GTS. The Dino demonstrated impressive balance during tight handling, thanks to its near-even weight distribution, which was a dividend of the race-proven rear-mid engine placement.

This 246 GT has had only three collector owners (its original owner having kept the Dino in his possession from 1972 to 1997) from new and has been kept in exceptional condition having traveled only 22,000 miles since new. Sympathetic restoration work was undertaken when and where needed throughout its life and a recent comprehensive repaint was carried out by noted Los Angeles based specialists, Lasky Coachworks in its original color, Marrone Dino Metallizzato (one of only 210 Dinos painted in this livery).

During this time, the Dino also received a thorough mechanical sorting, including new Koni shock absorbers, ball joints and suspension bushings, clutch cable, fluids and filters flushed and replenished and replaced with OEM correct parts. In addition, new Michelin XWX tires were fitted and a complete carburetor overhaul as well as several time consuming details throughout the chassis were addressed all performed by well-known Los Angeles based Ferrari specialists.

An exceptionally rare find in todays market, this is an excellent investment grade Dino that not only has low original miles and limited ownership history from new, but one that has also been cared for, serviced properly and is ready for immediate concours/show, touring pleasure and general enjoyment of ownership.
