Bronco Xlt

Mercedes Benz Silver metallic with Black trim, Burgundy cloth interior, Burgundy carpeting, 460 V-8 engine, Automatic transmission.

Beginning development in 1977 the 19801986 Bronco was designed to address many concerns that held the 19781979 Bronco out of production. Nominally shorter and lighter, the 1980 Bronco was designed to adopt a more efficient powertrain while retaining its full-size dimensions.

Built as a 1980s Monster Truck homage, this example was cosmetically restored and mechanically refreshed at considerable cost in 2005. Under ownership since, this Bronco has received regular maintenance as needed and has accumulated light annual mileage.
During the restoration process, the entire body was repainted in Mercedes Benz DB180, with glass out and all door jambs and hinged panels receiving proper attention. All trim and bumpers were removed and powder coated in black, and the removable top was repainted in Satin Black. The seats were reupholstered in the original specification Ford Cloth insert fabric and OEM new carpeting was used, OEM headlining was replaced and new door panels were installed. At this time the complete audio system was upgraded and the original CB radio was retained.

The undercarriage was scraped, sanded and coated in excellent quality undercoating material Rancho suspension was refreshed and new road wheels were mounted to 38 Super Swamper tires. The drivetrain was uprated previous to 2005 with a Ford 460 powerplant, which was rebuilt during the restoration work and the transmission, brakes, steering and suspension were upgraded or refreshed at this time.

The result is a highly entertaining, quality built and finished truck that encompasses a level of brutishness and refinement that is truly unusual. This Bronco is an absolute blast to drive and does not fail to elicit attention and smiles wherever it travels.
