This V8 Vantage Oscar India (OI was internal code for the new model referring to October Introduction) is one of the 172 genuine 400-horsepower V8 Vantage models produced between 1978 and 1985 and one of the first dozen built in 1979.
The first owner was a doctor in Halesowen, UK. In 1987 and after eight years of ownership, this Vantage was sold to Viscount de Farcy. At the time it was converted from RHD to LHD by a well-known Aston marque specialist. In 1998 and after several years of enjoyment, this V8 Vantage was sold to Count Audion de Dampierre, a well known manufacturer of champagne as well a previous chairman of the French AMOC. It was later sold to Mr. Abegg, also a French resident. In 2001, it went to a Swiss Aston enthusiast who used and kept it for the next 12 years. In 2012, the Vantage was consigned to Mr. C. Tedeschi, owner of Auto Klassiker, the Swiss classic car company with whom the Vantage had been maintained since 2001. Mr. Tedeschi decided to keep the car for himself personally having a first hand knowledge of the V8 Vantage and its well-serviced condition.
In December 2012 this Vantage was purchased by Autosport Designs, imported to the USA and sold almost immediately to well-known AMOC club member and stalwart of the East Coast AMOC, Mr. J. Littlechild. Mr. Littlechild enjoyed the V8 Vantage for approximately one year prior to being returned to Autosport Designs, inc. for a complete engine, ignition and fuel system servicing, service carbs, new water pump, all new oil lines as well as new oil coolers, new clutch, air conditioning system service and update to later style hubs for fitment of factory Ronal wheels. The engine bay was detailed at this time. All work was completed by January 2014.
Subsequently and having worked with marque specialist Steel Wings on several of his other Astons, both past and present, the V8 Vantage was entrusted to them for the following: Complete chassis renovation, concours quality bare metal repaint with all brightwork reconditioned as well as a further servicing. The brakes and suspensions systems were completely renewed and a Steel Wings suspension with upgraded springs, shock absorbers and anti-roll bar installed. This work was completed July 2015.
Mr. Littlechild enjoyed the patina of the well kept original interior and carpeting and thus all was left all as-is.
In October 2016, this Vantage was traded to Autosport Designs, towards another automobile in our inventory that was more conducive to Mr. Littlechilds use given his relocating to the West Coast and its smog requirements. During our ownership the complete interior (leather and carpeting), leather headliner and boot compartment had been reupholstered to as new condition throughout.
Having been sold by Autosport Designs, this V8 Vantage then found itself in the ownership of a good friend and client. It has been in his care since and serviced by us. The V8 Vantage is currently offered for sale due to the previous owner performing a multi-car trade with Autosport Designs.
This V8 Vantage is supplied with its original factory build sheet, huge history file for both ownership and service history, factory owners manual and two sets of keys. A rare true Vantage here in the USA, it will be a welcomed addition to any new home or collection.
