What can be said about the 911 2.8 RSR other than its being a Porsche 911 icon. It was the Porsche to be reckoned with during the 1970s in sport car GT racing. They were campaigned successfully at circuits and championships around the world, challenging for overall wins. The Porsche RSR was particularly successful for years at the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In an effort to create an exceptional, fun, lightweight, fast and reliable tribute to one of the most respected 911 models of all, the 2.8 RSR, Autosport Designs, Inc. are offering the following.

Based on a proper period 911 tub, this 911 was completely dismantled, the tub media blasted to remove the original finish and to have a proper rust free canvas to build from. The tub is fitted with steel flares front and rear as well as proper early type 911 long hood, lightweight fiberglass trunk lid, ducktail as well as front and rear fiberglass RSR period specification bumpers. Once the metal work has been completed, paint is applied to Pebble Beach concours quality standards and with zero imperfections for the new finish. All gaskets, rubber seals and felts are replaced during assembly, Carrera side stripes, Carrera RS and Porsche front and rear badges are affixed, rubber decklid and front trunk lid latches as per original RSR are supplied and installed. Finally the 911 is supplied with 15x9 & 15x11 Braid Fuchs wheels fitted with period correct vintage Michelin TB15 tires to finish off the exterior presentation.

Inside, the cabin has been completely reupholstered with several RS and RSR components. The dash is rewrapped, proper Perlon carpeting laid and custom headrest-less fixed shell buckets with plaid inserts fitted for that tasteful touch. A deep dish four-spoke 380mm RSR wheel, refreshed pedal assembly and Wevo short shift kit put the driver in touch with the machine. The minimalistic interior offers no distractions with a radio block-off plate and stripped door panels. (Any sound system and air conditioning can be supplied and installed at the clients request)

The 3.2-liter and 915 five-speed gearbox are paired for both power and drivability and serviced as needed to make certain your RSR Tribute is ready for immediate use. The engine sports a pair of aluminum-coated headers, ceramic-coated twin-exit center pipe muffler and a new alternator. The engine is also mated to a new clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and throw-out bearing to ensure a fresh start in its new ownership. For added reliability, a front-mounted oil cooler helps regulate moderate air-cooled engine temperatures and all wiring is checked for function and to make sure all is working properly and accurately throughout. The suspension is renewed as needed and the 911 is treated to a professional corner balance, set of ride height and 4-wheel alignment. Once completed, the 911 is road tested to ensure its confidence while climbing through the power band without hesitation, to make sure the 915 transmission shifts through all five gears without issue and confirm that its road manners are excellent in every way and ready for its new owner.

All in all, this creates a 911 experience that is fast, fun, reliable as well as a cost effective in today Porsche market.
