This XK-120 was built on January 21st, 1953 and delivered to distributor Max Hoffman in New York on January 26th, 1953. This superb XK-120 is rally ready and tastefully modified for drivability with a Tremec five speed manual, uprated aluminum radiator, high torque starter, front disc brakes as well as bucket seats for increased comfort and leg room for taller drivers.
Early history is unknown, but this XK was sold to Mr. Tom Caulfield in the late 60's. The XK-120 was enjoyed, but used sparingly through the 1970's. In the mid-1970's the XK-120 changed hands having been acquired by Mr. Charles Gambill, Hinsdale, IL. In this ownership the XK-120 had its engine, gearbox and differential back axle refurbished. At this point the 3.4L inline-six received higher compression pistons and C-Type camshafts. Sold to Dr. Irwin Ginsberg, Buffalo, NY in the mid 80's, it was maintained impeccably for the next two decades to ensures it's being ready and able rally events such as the 1992 California Mille. It had always proved incredibly reliable and did not disappoint in any way. In 2003, this XK was consigned to the Christies Motoring Department's Tarrytown auction where it was purchased by Mr. Bruce Deseo. Apparently, Mr. Deseo traded the XK almost immediately to Kirk F. White, legendary Pennsylvania automobile dealer, racer and the gentleman took his daily driver Ferrari Daytona originally painted Beige metallic and painted it Sunoco Blue. This special Ferrari Daytona was later loaned to Brock Yates and Dan Gurney for a short drive to California arriving at the Portofino Inn in Redondo Beach 35 hours and 54 minutes later. Yes, this was The Cannonball Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash! Back to the Jag, Kirk F. White enjoyed the Jag's ownership through May 2005 when it was acquired by Dr. Bob Cooper, Florida. Dr. Cooper kept XK-120 until November 2012 when it was sold- purchased by its last long-term custodian, Mr. John Starkey, Florida. Mr. Starkey is well-known as the author of various books depicting the histories of various well known production cars as well as race cars. While in Mr. Starkey's ownership, this XK was used and maintained regardless of use.
This XK-120 is offered with a comprehensive ownership history, tool kit, service documentation, many of its original parts. Upon a recent road test and as our road test video will attest, this XK-120 is one of the best 120's we have had the pleasure to own.
