Elegant and sporty, the 3.8 Mk 2 was one of the fastest four-door saloons in its day. It was stunning to look at and exceptional to drive. The 3.8 utilized a twin-carburetor variant of the engine for the E-Type. It shared the same block, crank, connecting rods and pistons. With 220bhp, the engine propelled the MK 2 to a top speed of 126mph. Vicarage-inspired modifications include Series III XJ6 power steering rack, seats, modern R123 air conditioning, cruise control and electric windows and sunroof.
This Mk 2 was produced on February 23, 1966 and sold out of a Jaguar-Daimler dealership in Attwoods, England. After spending a period of time across the pond, it was imported into the US where it was converted from right hand drive to left hand drive. It had been in the care of its former longtime Jaguar enthusiast-collector owner and the oldest Jaguar dealer franchise owners in the United States, since 1995.
Having always received proper maintenance and care regardless of use, all systems are serviced and well-kept to ensure it is always in exceptional mechanical condition. Recent services include tire replacement, shock absorbers and new clutch. It is sparingly driven when whether and time permit, accruing only 3,000 miles since its restoration in the 1990's.
With its brief ownership lineage, this Mk 2 is in superb condition throughout. All systems work as they should. A recent road test attests its being in excellent mechanical condition and extremely fun to drive, especially with its thoughtfully considered modifications.
