E-Type 4.2 Liter series 1 Roadster

Red with Black leather interior, Black carpeting, Black Everflex top, 28,000 miles since engine rebuild, Restored in 2005, Triple S.U. carb 4.2 liter engine, 4-speed transmission, Numbers matching, Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.

According to the accompanying Heritage certificate, this numbers matching E-Type was dispatched from the UK to its original owner Dr. William Trent of Annapolis, MD, on April 29th, 1967.

This Roadster was purchased by its current owner in January of 1998 from Cooper Classics in New York. After seven years of enjoyment, in 2005, with some 82,000 original miles noted on the odometer, it was decided to have the car stripped back to bare metal, have necessary metal work completed and have the Jaguar repainted to its striking Carmen Red livery it still wears today. During this time and over the course of roughly two years, this wonderful late series one Jaguar E Type was subjected to a complete and thorough mechanical and cosmetic overhaul. The suspension and brake components were also replaced with new or upgraded parts and a decision at the time was made to upgrade the ignition system to electronic for improved reliability. An aluminum radiator and electric fan was also fitted together with the addition of a modern radio and new speakers.

As a result of the owners constant attention to detail and the result of time and no expense spared throughout the restoration process and constant care since, this Jaguar went on to receive a number of concours trophies and awards with the Jaguar Club of North America. The trophies and plaques accompany the car together with some score sheets from 2012 showing the car scoring 992/1000 points. In 2018 at a cost of around $2500, it was decided to have the body professionally ceramic coated to ensure a continued superb shine and luster to the paint finish.

Having driven around 28,000 seasonal miles throughout its single 21 year ownership, this Jaguar is a wonderful example of the last of the Series 1 roadsters. A large history file with restoration photos as well as service and maintenance receipts accompany this E-type Roadster.
