Designed by Pininfarina, the Alfa Spider (105/115 series) is a two-seater, front engine, rear drive roadster manufactured and marketed by Alfa Romeo from 1966 to 1994 in four distinct generations. The Spider remained in production for almost three decades. The last Spider of that series was manufactured in April 1993.

The first series Spider was launched at the 36th Geneva Motor Show in March 1966 and known as the Spider "Duetto."

The Second series Spider which we are offering here was manufactured from 1970-1982/3. The first significant change to the exterior styling was introduced in 1970 with the original's distinctive elongated round tail (Boat-Tail) revised to a Kamm tail which improved luggage capacity. Numerous other small changes took place both inside and out, such as a slightly different grille, new door handles, a more raked windscreen, top-hinged pedals and improved interior trim.

1971 saw the Spider Veloce receive a new, larger powerplant, a 1962 cc, 132 hp unit. Consequently the name was changed from 1750 Spider Veloce to 2000 Spider Veloce. For the United States, the 2000 Spider received SPICA fuel injection rather than carburetors.

This 1979 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce was purchased by the previous owner's uncle in 1989. It was refinished Blue over Red circa 2015. At the time, it was decided to earlier type chrome bumpers rather than USA type rubber bumpers for that cleaner Spider look, a roll bar for added safety, headlight covers and a JVC stereo.

The 2.0L twin-cam inline-four features SPICA fuel injection, the engine was rebuilt in 1989 with limited mileage since. Work in June 2020 included servicing the fuel injection system, adjusting the valves, and replacement of the spark plugs and wires.

This Alfa is a wonderful vintage sports car in every respect and what is in our estimation is a lot of vintage sports car fun for the money. A recent road test attests to the car performing extremely well in every way. This 2000 Spider Veloce is offered with ownership with service history.
