A partnership between Jem Marsh (a racing driver) and Frank Costin (a well-known aircraft engineer who had also worked with Lotus Engineering), combining their names became the beginning of Marcos Engineering Ltd. Marcos produced both sports and racing cars. Their innovative Wood and Fiberglass Bonded Chassis beneath the model's fiberglass skin represented an advanced thinking and approach towards monocoque chassis construction. Soon after the development of the 1500, Marcos developed a tubular steel chassis for the six cylinder models, This is what we are proud to offer here.

According to the Marcos International Car Club, 250 of the 1600 GT's we're 3 Liter Ford V6 engines vehicles with the steel chassis. These vehicles we're produced between the years of 1969 to 1971.
