Groundbreaking for its time, the standard factory 300ZX Turbo included a 200 hp and 227 lb/ft-tq Turbocharged V6 powerplant, electronically controlled sport suspension, auxiliary displays and steering wheel controls. To celebrate 50 years since Nissan's founding in 1933, approximately 5,000 300ZX Turbo 50th Anniversary Edition units were made for the U.S. market. Aesthetic upgrades include different front fenders, rear fender flairs, turbine-style alloy wheels with gold accents and fins, and “Nissan 50th Anniversary” commemorative badges. Interior upgrades include embroidery on leather seats and carpeting, digital gauge cluster with voice alerts, gauge pods to include speed and G-force displays and a “Bodysonic Amplifier” that sends pulse-vibration through seats, correlating to the sound profile of the music being played from the head unit.
