Completed by the factory, this 250GT Boano was delivered new to the famous Belgian Ferrari importer, Jacques Swaters' Garage Francorchamps SA, Brussels, Belgium, May 18, 1957. It was sold to its first registered owner, Mr. Lefranc, Belgium. During the early 1960's, the 250 GT was exported from Belgium to the United States having been sold to Mr. John Calley, a movie producer in Los Angeles, California.
Early California history saw this Boano being sold in 1965 from Mr. John Calley to Mr. Larry Armi, Pasadena, California. In 1966 and in need of a clutch replacement, it changes hands from Mr. Larry Armi to Mr. Gene Curtis, Manhattan Beach, California. Mr. Curtis owned the 250 GT Boano through 1987.
In 1988, it was sold by Curtis' widow to Mr. Robert Butler, Valencia, California. At this time, the engine was out of the car and the 250 GT was in need of a major restoration. 1993 saw the Boano being sold by Mr. Butler to his friend, Mr. Rick Peterson as partial payment towards a previous loan to Butler.
September 1995 saw this Boano being advertised in the Ferrari Market Letter by well-known and respected Southern California based Ferrari specialist, Mr. Norbert Hofer on behalf of Mr. Rick Petersen. October 2001, now in restored condition and still in Mr. Petersen's ownership, the Boano found itself being marketed by European Auto Restorations and subsequently being sold to Mr. Rick Intile, New York, NY. Mr. Intile, a good friend of Autosport Designs remembers the Boano fondly, having enjoyed it thoroughly and until selling on June 2006. Further collector ownerships have included, 2006, Mr. Tony Schwartz, Los Angeles, a well-known collector-dealer. 2007 it was owned by Mr. Michael Schudroff, Carriage House Motorcars, Greenwich, Connecticut and sold to Mr. David Berkeley. Mr. Berkeley entered the 250 GT Boano in the June, 2008, Greenwich Concours d'Elegance. Late 2009, the Boano was now in the ownership of Mr. Dennis Roberts, New Hampshire. Mr. Roberts kept the 250 GT through 2011 when it was purchased by Mr. Stu Carpenter, Copley Motorcars, Needham, Massachusetts and on behalf of well-known collector, Mr. Leslie H. Wexner, Ohio. Kept in the Wexner collection through September 2012 and when resold through Copley Motorcars once again to its most recent custodian, a well-known and respected California collector.
While in its most recent ownership, this rare, numbers matching, "Low Roof" Boano has enjoyed fastidious care, maintenance as well as continued sympathetic restoration, when and where needed by the gentleman who has known this 250 GT extremely well for several decades, Ferrari specialist Norbert Hofer.
