Prior to restoration, this 280 SL earner AACA Senior National honors in 2007. Although already superb and without issue, it was decided to perform and exceptional detailed restoration during 2012 and 2013 by David Latham and his specialists at well-known Mercedes Benz restoration facility Budds Benz in Georgia. It was restored in its original color combination and painstakingly finished to the highest standards with as many factory original new parts as possible to create what is essentially a brand new 280 SL Roadster. This 280 SL is complete with factory correct decals, emblems and hanging tags. It is also accompanied by its factory data card as well as original owner's manual and tool kit.

Following the completion of the 280s restoration, it earned Best of Show and People's Choice awards at the 2013 MBCA Peachtree Concours d'Elegance.

Subsequently sold at auction, this 280 SL was purchased by one of our good clients, kept in his New York collection, serviced by Autosport Designs and later traded towards another one of our automotive orphans from inventory.

In March 2017, this 280 SL was purchased by a well-known and respected California collector, Mr. R Scherr as a gift for his wife. The SL was sent to Mercedes Benz Classic center where it was serviced and treated to a new convertible top prior to being presented to be in absolute perfect condition. Upon receipt of her SL, this 280 was used and enjoyed for limited use and kept within the multi-car collection. Due to being used rarely, February 2018 saw this 280 SL traded once again to Autosport Designs, Inc. towards another automobile from the ASD inventory deemed more suitable for “his” portion of the collection. The 280 SL was sold almost immediately to a good client of ours here in Long Island and where it has been used and enjoyed only during the Spring and Summer New York Hamptons seasons and serviced when and where needed yearly.

Available for immediate purchase, use and enjoyment, this 280 SL is truly one of the finest examples available with no disappointments whatsoever!
