1963 Rolls-Royce

Silver Cloud III By Mulliner Park Ward

Shell Grey with Black leather interior, Black carpeting and Black convertible top, Restored, 6.2 liter V-8 engine, 4-speed automatic transmission.

Launched in 1962, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III enjoyed the power of its 6.2-litre aluminum-alloy V8 engine and came with a four-speed GM automatic transmission as standard equipment. Most obvious among many changes from the preceding Cloud II models were the adoption of four-headlamp lighting, the absence of sidelights from the wing tops, and a slightly lower radiator shell. Inside there was improved accommodation with separate front seats and increased room for rear passengers. Please note, the Cloud III was the last production Rolls-Royce to employ a separate coachbuilt chassis. The factory did not offer a convertible or drophead coupé, a coachbuilt car was the only option if ones preference was Rolls-Royce fresh air motoring for those discerning enthusiasts wealthy enough to afford them. The finish, both in detail, equipment and trim, is superb.

This Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III Adaption is one of just 25 left hand drive examples and was one of the very few purpose coachbuilt convertibles originally built on the Silver Cloud III chassis. This Cloud III was ordered by its first American owner through coachbuilders HJ Mulliner Park Ward and custom built by them as a Drop Head Coupe and registered on May 20, 1963. Please do not confuse this with many later conversions which are essentially coupes cut down to create a convertible. It was ordered in Shell Grey, the color it carries today. It appears the first owner kept the car until 1965 when it was sold to a new home and kept for the next 30 years before being sold to its third owner.

This Cloud III was sold by Autosport Designs and is well-known to us. In its most recent ownership, this Cloud III has enjoyed thorough, yearly servicing by well known Pennsylvania specialists to make sure it is as they say on the button and ready for immediate use. It comes complete with ownership and restoration-service history.

In superb restored condition, this is a fantastic investment opportunity to own one of the rarest Rolls Royce convertibles in original left hand drive form as originally delivered from the factory. It is simply one of the most significant collector cars of all time.
